Worldwide top ten SIs declined by 8.3% MoM in June

Based on the latest survey by WitsView, in June, shipment of top ten LCD monitor SI dropped 8.3% MoM to 12.01millon units, recording three months of consecutive decline. The inventory among brand vendors’ retail channels was on the rise because of the weak demand in traditional IT slow season and the influence of the European debt crisis. Moreover, it remains uncertain when the panel prices will rebound. Hence, inventory closeout is the top priority among brand clients, reflecting the rather conservative product pull-in. If the pressure of inventory closeout is relieved, coupled by the strategic preparation for 4Q10 demand, WitsView estimated that shipment of top ten SIs may grow 6-8% QoQ.

Of individual vendors in June 2010, SI shipment posted a decline in general. Among which, Innolux is re-allocating their factories in China after the merger. Hence, the adjustment caused a decline in shipment by 28.6% MoM. Influenced by the Innolux capacity adjustment, some clients shifted a part of their orders to other SIs. For example, Wistron has been getting orders from Dell and Acer substantially, increasing by 10.4% MoM. In addition, shipment of Tatung came in the first place which grew by 19.6% MoM, benefiting from the restocking demand for summer sales in China and the explosive growth in orders from China’s clients.
