Top 10 monitor brand shipments increased by 4% MoM in June

In June 2010, LCD monitor shipment from global top ten brand vendors increased by 4% MoM to 11.17 million units according to the latest survey by WitsView. The shipment growth momentum was mainly from 1H10 sales target, coupled by the restock in preparation for summer vacation in markets of Europe and the US. However, the overall LCD monitor market for 3Q10 didn’t appear a substantial recovery since the inventory haven’t been cleared away and upstream panel prices continued to fall. Looking into 2H10, the annual financial performance may be affected if gaining market share remained the primary target. Hence, currently, most brand vendors tended to reserve their profit.

Of individual vendors, during the summer vacation in the US and Europe market, since a long vacation was arranged by clients LCD monitor demand of Dell and HP posted an early increase in June, surging by 13.2% and 19.7% respectively. Yet, this growth may weaken their shipment at quarter-end in July. On the other hand, affected by the high inventory level and weak demand, shipment among some vendors was under their expectation, namely, BenQ(-15.9%), AOC(-10.9%), LGE(-6.6%) and Philips(-6.0%)
