Worldwide top ten SIs declined by 1.3% MoM in July

According to the latest survey by WitsView, global LCD monitor shipment from top ten SIs dropped by 1.3% MoM to 11.77 million units, recording the shipment decline for four consecutive months. Brand vendors were supposed to begin the product pull-in in July for the traditional hot season. However, the end-market demand in Europe and the US market remained weak, coupled by the slow economic growth in China affected by the natural disasters, demand for summer sales promotion was not as strong. In the meantime, under the expectation of panel price fall, brand vendors’ product pull-in slowed down. Looking into August, WitsView estimated that shipment of top ten SIs will have a 2~4% MoM growth since brand vendors restocked in preparation strategically for China National Day holiday and 4Q10 demand.

In terms of individual vendors in July 2010, since Innolux’s re-allocations of their production capacity in China have been gradually resolved, some delayed orders of June were able to be cleared out in July, adding by 13.2% MoM in shipment. On the contrary, as for Jean, the US and Europe customers accounted for a large ratio. Therefore, amid the weak condition in Europe and the US market, clients’ product pull-in has become more conservative, leading to a 29.2% MoM decline in Jean’s shipment.
