Worldwide top ten SIs rose by 15% MoM in September

According to the latest survey by WitsView, monitor shipments from global top ten SIs reached 13.85M units in September, surging by 15% MoM, and it mainly attributed to the following: firstly, in order to lower the risk of loss from panel price decline, brand vendors postponed their restocking schedule for 4Q10 to September and October. Secondly, in response to the potential demand during China National Day holiday, and the nearly two weeks of stagnant period of production between the Moon Festival and China National Day holiday, brand vendors restocked for one more week of inventory level for the market demand in China. Thirdly, some brand customers began the product pull-in in September for 4Q10 demand in Europe and the US. Finally, since the month September was the quarterly end of the fiscal year, SIs aggressively increased shipments which led to the shipment surge from the top ten SIs in September. Looking into the shipments in October, although brand vendors postponed restocking for a part of 4Q10 demand to October, WitsView conservatively estimates that shipments from the top ten SIs may decline by 1~5% MoM in October due to the following – the shipment base in September was relatively high, and shipments for the first week of October was previously shipped out in September; additionally, the end-market demand in 4Q10 remains unclear.

Of individual vendors in September 2010, because Samsung’s shipment week of September was calculated as five weeks, and the 4Q10 demand for Europe and the US market was prepared in September, Samsung’s shipments soared by 35% MoM. Innolux and TPV’s shipments grew by 21.2% and 16.7% MoM respectively, thanks to their customers restocking for China National Day holiday in September. On the contrary, Tatung’s shipments fell by 23.1% MoM since the previous orders from its major customer HP had been shipped out completely, and the mass production from the latest orders has not been started.
