Top 10 monitor brand shipments added by 16% MoM in September

According to the latest survey by WitsView, shipments from the worldwide top ten LCD monitor brand vendors added by 16% MoM to 12.27 million units in September 2010, which mainly attributed to the following: brand vendors restocked in preparation for the first increasing demand in 4Q10 during China National Day holiday. In addition, although demand remained unclear for 4Q10, brand vendors turned more aggressive to restock for the demand in Europe and the US market under the expectation of LCD monitor panel prices approaching to the bottom. Moreover, brand vendors increased the product pull-in in order to achieve the quarterly target in September since September was the quarter end of 3Q10. Looking into shipments in 4Q10, WitsView estimated that since the aggregated shipments in the first three quarters of the year was lower than expected, brand vendors will request for special deals from panel makers , and be allied with retailers to launch price promotions in 4Q10. It is estimated that shipments from the global top ten brand vendors may grow by 1~5% in 4Q10.

Of individual vendors, since AOC and Lenovo’s shipments concentrated in China, their shipments surged by 57.9% and 30% QoQ respectively, which was benefitted from the booming demand for China National Day holiday. Shipments from BenQ rose by 26.8% MoM because it planned to launch special sales promotions in Europe, and restocked in September. On the contrary, Philip restocked early in August for the 4Q10 demand in Europe. Under the weak market demand in September, the shipment momentum stopped and Philip’s shipments dropped by 12.8% MoM.
