Top 10 monitor SIs’ shipments dropped by 7.7% MoM in April

According to WitsView’s global monitor SI shipment survey for Apr11, the total shipments among top 10 SIs in the world in April 2011 reached 13.23 million units with MoM regression of 7.7%. The regression of shipment in April 4 has been consistent with the forecast by WitsView due to: 1. Slow demand during traditional off-season in European and American markets, 2. Short Labor Day holiday in China leading to less necessity for stocking among brand vendors, and 3. the larger shipment base of five weeks in March. As for the shipments in May and June, WitsView has predicted small scale fluctuation within plus/minus 3% because there is no significant foreseeable change in end demands plus brand vendors are in wait-and-see mode with conservative stocking attitudes.

In terms of the performance of the respective SIs, although Samsung has reduced the proportion of outsourcing shipments, their in-house shipments still suffered from the MoM regression of 20.9% due to weak demand in consumer market and the larger shipment base of five weeks in March. Meanwhile, due to modification of factory in China leading to capacity and order losses, the shipment of CMI has suffered from the MoM regression of 17.7%. The shipment of Greatwall also saw the MoM regression of 16.4% due to change of business development strategies.
