Top 10 monitor brand vendors’ shipments dropped by 13.3% MoM in April

As indicated by the survey on shipments among top 10 LCD monitor brands in the world, the total shipment in April 2011 reached 11.19 million units with MoM regression of 13.3% in March. The shipment declines among brand vendors have been more dramatic than SIs mainly due to the off season of IT product. In addition to flat demand in Europe and weak demand in Japan due to earthquake, demand in China has also been slowed down such that the accumulated inventory among end sales channels has affected the driving force behind pull-in inventory from brand vendors. As for the shipment forecast in May and June, WitsView has expected shipment level in May similar to that in April. However, getting near the end of accounting quarter for most vendors and moving out of off season, shipment in June should be improved due to the pressure of achieving shipment target of financial statement and enhanced pull-in inventory power from sales channels. Therefore WitsView has predicted a MoM growth of 9-12%.

As for the dynamics of individual firms in April 2011, the shipment of BenQ has suffered from MoM regression of 34.5% due to weak demands in Europe and China. Acer has distributed new products in March, but in April the shipment has suffered from MoM regression of 26.5% due to abruptly weakened demand in EMEA region, leading to increased inventory among sales channels and weakened pull-in inventory power. The shipment of Dell has enjoyed contrarian MoM growth of 4% benefiting from orders from SMEs and educational market plus the shipment spurt near the end of the accounting quarter.
