Top 10 monitor SIs’ shipments rose by 2.9% MoM in June

According to WitsView’s global monitor SI shipment survey for Jun11, the total shipments among top 10 SIs in the world in June 2011 reached 12.66 million units. The modest 2.9% MoM growth of SI shipments in June is mainly driven by the recovery of pull in strength by American and Chinese brands as well as by Samsung’s 5-week calculation of June shipment. In forecast of shipments in July and August, WitsView expects shipments in July to be at similar levels as in June because demand at the terminal market has yet to significantly improve. SI shipments, however, will vary among different SIs, TPV, Qisda and Wistron, for example, will continue to benefit from the loss of CMI and post shipments growth or will at least be relatively drop-resistant. Shipments in August, on the other hand, will see MoM growth of about 4-6% as the high season draws near and as some SI new orders will see volume grows.

In terms of the performance of the respective SIs, Wistron saw a MoM growth in shipments by 19.5% mainly due to the robust pull in by Dell and Lenovo; Samung’s June shipments posted a MoM growth of 19.1% due to its 5-week calculation for the month; Tatung saw its shipment number recovered to a MoM growth of 9.7% as HP’s pull in strength gradually recovered. On the other hand, CMI saw both its production capacity and order number reduced due to its assembly plants’ process transfer, resulting in the third consecutive month in shipments decline. As the company is currently under the second phase of process transfer, it is expected to experience continuing downward trend in July shipments.
